I am thrilled to say that yesterday I was elected as a member of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour – RSW in Scotland.

The burn .

Flicker of sun on water, darkness, light. Where the burn leaves the wood six herons hunker by the water’s edge. Crows clockwork walk over a stubbled field. Autumn exhales sending golden birch leaf coins in to the tumbling water, a wish for winters grace.

Notes from a woodland floor.

Darkness of roots and rotting wood throw the sunlit ferns into piercing bright starry pointed relief. Green is retreating with every day. Shadows on the burn etch the rock beneath. Ochre is here, mined, payment for rent centuries ago. Cool half tones, demisemiquavers of beech leaves . Crows in the canopy.
